Sourland Stewardship Leaders are a cadre of stewardship volunteers trained by Sourland Conservancy’s Naturalist Advisor, Jared Rosenbaum of Wild Ridge Plants.

These Stewardship Leaders are currently working in teams to conduct a habitat restoration project on Baldpate to learn ecological restoration fundamentals including site analysis, goal articulation, implementation and monitoring, and to help return a natural area to diversity and function. Leaders also interact with professionals, such as Dr. Michael Van Clef, Director of Stewardship at Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space, and Jennifer Rogers, Mercer County Naturalist. The goal of the Sourland Stewardship Leader Program is to assign teams of Stewardship Leaders to specific Sourland Preserves in order to monitor and assess conditions at the preserves and, if necessary, lead volunteers in stewardship projects at the sites.
