Making a donation is a great way to help the Sourland Conservancy perform its mission, and because the Conservancy is a registered 501(c) tax exempt entity, your donation is tax-deductible as provided by law. There are a number of ways you can donate:
Become a Member
Becoming a member of the Sourland Conservancy is a fantastic way to help because it not only grows the strength of our member base but provides critical financial support to perform our mission of protecting the Sourlands. In return, members enjoy special members benefits and the fun of being in a community of like-minded, caring individuals. For more information or to obtain/ renew your membership on-line.
Make a Cash Donation
Making a cash donation is an easy and direct way to help the Conservancy. For more information or to make your donation on-line.
Make a Stock Donation
Donating stock directly to charity is one of the most tax-smart ways to give to a charity. By donating stock that has appreciated for more than a year, you effectively give 20 percent more than if you sold the stock and then made a cash donation; this is because you avoid capital gains taxes. When you donate the stock directly to a charity, there is no capital gains tax to pay, plus you are still eligible to deduct the full fair-market value of the asset you donated from your income taxes, up to the overall amount allowed by the IRS. The Sourland Conservancy has established a brokerage account so that it is easy for donors to make a stock donation. For more information contact the Conservancy staff (see About Page for contact information).
Make a Bequest
Bequests are gifts that are made as part of a will or trust. Any person can make a charitable bequest to a nonprofit organization, in any amount. Charitable bequests combine philanthropy and tax benefits. For more information contact the Conservancy staff (see About Page for contact information).
Donate Through a Donor-Advised Fund
Donor-advised funds are charitable giving accounts offered by a sponsoring organization that is designed as an accessible, simple and less expensive alternative to private foundations. Put your money in, let the sponsoring institution manage it and then make a donation to the cause of your choice. For more information contact the Conservancy staff (see About Page for contact information).
Donate Your Time and Talent
Another way to give donations to nonprofit organizations is to donate your time and your talent. For example, you may be able to donate services in such fields as legal, accounting, marketing, and fundraising. Contact local organizations to find out how you can help. If you are a professional who donates time to the Conservancy, it may be a write-off for your business too. For more information contact the Conservancy staff (see About Page for contact information).
