Arts and Culture

The Sourlands have a long history as an artists’ retreat.  Writers, painters, photographers, musicians and other artists find inspiration here, as well as a secluded place that is conducive to their work.

The two sizable towns in the Sourlands — Lambertville and Hopewell Borough — are home to a number of art galleries, museums, antique shops, theaters and other performance venues.  These walkable communities include a large and growing number of excellent restaurants, some featuring live entertainment.

The Sourland Conservancy contributes to the culture of the region, too, with its annual music festival and a variety of other occasional events that feature films, live music, poetry readings, lectures, book signings, etc.  Part of our mission is to preserve the special character of the Sourland region, which includes its culture.
